Justin Starr

With a varied artistic experience, including the ownership of a small chain of flower shops, Justin Starr found his passion in creating masterful hairstyles for a loyal clientele. Now, as one of the senior stylists with more than 10 years of experience at Studio Taka and more than 13 years in the industry, Justin uses his natural artistry to transform and delight his clients. 

 

Studio Taka master stylist, Takafumi Oiwa, says “Justin’s strength comes from his talent and his heart. He is masterful at working with clients with many different needs and wants to develop a flattering look through a detailed consultation. He’s charming, skilled, and he cares about his clients.”

 

After apprenticing under master stylist Takafumi Oiwa, Justin earned his chair at the salon and was able to grow his clientele quickly in the very competitive styling world of Laguna Beach. Justin is both consistent and creative, and many of his original clients still come to see him even after they’ve moved from the area.

 

Justin constantly pursues additional skills through ongoing education including a master set of coursework at the famed Vidal Sassoon Academy and numerous Aveda classes. Justin is an expert at the proprietary bBlond technique offered at Studio Taka which allows him to create many blonde colors – from natural sun-kissed Balayage to dramatic icy blonds. He has a particular passion for working with rich brunette and brightly red colored hair.

 

While skilled at creating distinctive looks in the salon, Justin also takes time to educate his clients on how to maintain and style their looks at home. Outside of the salon, Justin applies his creative talents to numerous projects at his home, and opens his heart and home to rescue animals.
